It is also known as The Lone Star State and its population is the second in the nation with a total of 29.2 million people along with one of the highest growth rates in the country. Up until this date, many people did not know that Texas was part of Mexico until its revolution of 1835-36  when it became an independent republic. To add, it was not until December 1845 that Texas was admitted as a state and became part of the United States. Believe it or not, the most spoken language at homes in Texas is Spanish and second Vietnamese! English remains the official language of the state with the highest number of people from the population. Other languages which are very popular are Chinese which ranks fourth on the U.S. Census Bureau and Arabic which ranks as number five.

What are some famous cities in Texas?

Houston of course ranks as the number one city as it also has the highest population in the state. Second is San Antonio, then Dallas and finally Austin, which is also the capital of Texas and known for being the world’s live music capital.. As for El Paso, it ranks as the sixth most populous city and is mostly known for its Tex-Mex cuisine.

Where is NASA space center in Texas?

The first words spoken from the moon on July 20, 1969 was Houston. The Space Center Houston is one of the only places on Earth where visitors can see astronauts train for missions, touch a real moon rock and take a behind-the-scenes tour of NASA. The nonprofit space museum is the Official Visitor Center of NASA Johnson Space Center, which is home to Mission Control and astronaut training programs.  The center is located at 1601 NASA Parkway, Houston, Texas and is open daily all year round.
